what is a dead man walking?

It’s no secret that Jesus Christ was a world-changing man. His life reset the calendar, among myriad other impacts He produced. But by far the biggest act Jesus performed that turns heads to this day is His resurrection from the dead. When Jesus walked out of that tomb, He flipped the world upside-down, and people have noticed ever since.

If another man did this today, it would draw attention like no other. A dead man getting up and walking shifts the atmosphere. The thing is, Jesus has been doing this to men who follow Him for 2,000 years. Our goal is to get in on that resurrection as a brotherhood.

The pillars

“Then Jesus said to his disciples, ‘If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.’” - Matthew 16:24

The Dead Men Walking brotherhood seeks to take Jesus seriously on this call - denying ourselves, taking up our crosses to die to ourselves daily, and following Him. When our sinful self dies and our new life in Christ is risen, it shifts the world. We aim to pursue Christ in this manner through our six pillars. As Dead Men Walking, we are:

SURRENDERED to God & His Way

SELFLESS putting others first

SACRIFICIAL giving whatever it takes

SATISFIED in God alone

SAFE to all but evil

and

CELEBRATORY of God and the good He gives

Every goal in the 40-day challenge serves to practically apply at least 1 of these pillars to our daily lives - often more.

  • Yes. The price for the DMW 40-Day Challenge is $199. Only men who have submitted applications and been approved to compete are required to pay.

While we believe that Christ does NOT require a price for salvation, and never will, we also believe that for men who have chosen to receive salvation from Him as a gift, once we receive that free gift of salvation, we are required to make sacrifices that cost us something but are investments in the future. If you are willing to invest in your life & your future, it will pay back in dividends.

There are prizes awarded to the top competitors in each class, as well as costs incurred for the commencement retreat and other necessary elements of the challenge in day-to-day operations. Therefore the challenge does cost money.
